Hangzhou Asian Games to unveil detailed e-sports events including LOL.
E-sports, which was adopted as an exhibition event in 2018 and changed its status to an official event at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games, unveiled detailed events including League of Legends (hereinafter LOL).
The Asian e-sports Federation (AESF) officially announced detailed events of the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games e-sports event on the 8th (Korea Standard Time). As eight detailed events and two demonstration events, the AESF said it has selected events according to the selection criteria, including the Olympic value set by the Asian Olympic Council (OCA).
E-sports has been adopted for various international sports events. At the 2018 Jakarta-Palembang Asian Games, it was selected as a demonstration event and a total of six events, including the League of Legends (LOL), were held. The AESF is the only organization in charge of e-sports in Asia and has been recognized by the Olympic Council of Asia, leading the selection of e-sports exhibition events at the 2018 Jakarta-Palembang Asian Games and the adoption of e-sports events at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games.
First of all, LOL, a representative popular event, was selected as an official PC platform event. In addition, Dota 2, Hearthstone, Street Fighter V, and Mongsamguk were adopted as official PC platform items.
The “Arena of Baller” Asian Games Version (AOV) and “Battleground Mobile,” known in Korea as Prince Yeongyo, have been selected as “EA Sports FIFA,” which will feature mobile, PC or console platforms.
As a pilot event, AESF Robot Masters (Miju) and AESF VR Sports of Mingu, a subsidiary of China Mobile, were adopted.
OCA Secretary-General Hussain Al-Mussalam said, “I hope this announcement will give all participating teams enough time to prepare and prepare ahead of the preliminary round. I believe we are a legitimate choice to ensure a high level of competition that promises everyone a great viewing. “We will work closely with friends from the AESF and Hangzhou Organizing Committee so that e-sports matches can be successfully held at the 2022 Asian Games,” OCA said about the selection.
AESF Chairman Huo Chi Kang said, “I am thrilled to see e-sports at the 2022 Asian Games. The announcement set the stage for selecting e-sports titles for future Olympic events as well as final preparations for the event, he said with emphasis.
AESF Secretary-General Sebastian Lau said, “We went through a strict process of choosing a title. “We fully know how competitive the e-sports field is, so we considered all the necessary factors such as popularity, licenses, and title content,” he said about the selection process of the event.
